Rakeedhoo is a tiny inhabited island at the southern tip of Vaavu, and this is the emptiest beach in the directory. The survey found no toilets, no showers and no food mapped anywhere near it.
It is here because of the channel it sits on. Rakeedhoo Corner was declared a protected area in 2023, and the register calls it a deep sea on the southern side of the island where the outer edge meets the reef, rich in coral and known for rays and sharks through the seasons.
Vaavu holds more protected water than any other atoll in the country and almost no development. Rakeedhoo is what that combination looks like from the sand.
