Harbour Island

Harbour Island is a small island off the northern tip of Eleuthera, and it is reached by water taxi rather than by road. Dunmore Town is the settlement; the island is about three miles long and golf carts outnumber cars.

Pink Sands runs down the whole Atlantic side of it. The colour is real and it is not a trick of the light — it comes from red-shelled organisms ground into the white carbonate sand — and it is the only beach in this directory whose sand type is recorded as pink.

The directory lists one beach here. The survey behind these pages looked for a second and found that Girls Bank, the sandbar people are usually sent to next, is not mapped as a beach at all — so it is not listed, because a listing we cannot place on a map is a listing we invented.
