Grand Anse is the big open beach on the far side of La Digue, facing the ocean with no reef in front of it. It is wide, it is largely empty, and the water gets deep quickly.
This directory records it as not advised for swimming, which is a judgement it makes about no other beach it lists. The FCDO's Seychelles advice is that the east coast is unsafe during the south-east winds, roughly May to September, that beaches do not always carry safety information, and that you should not assume they are safe. There is no lifeguard here. It is a beach to walk and to watch the sea from.

Bicycle or on foot across the island from La Passe, over the hill — about half an hour of pedalling, some of it pushing. No car park and no lifeguard.
